Cyber Essentials is a simple and effective Government backed scheme that will help you protect your organisation against a range of the most common cyber attacks. It’s a way of showing your customers that you take IT security seriously and is often a basic requirement to be eligible to bid for government and other contracts.
Cyber Essentials will help you avoid the consequences of such things as Phishing attacks, Malware, Ransomware, Password guessing and Network attacks. The certification scheme is structured around these five basic cyber security threats that form the basis of the vast majority of cyber security attacks.
CYBER ESSENTIALS CERTIFICATION
How it works
Cyber attacks come in many shapes and sizes, but the vast majority are very basic in nature, carried out by relatively unskilled individuals. They’re the digital equivalent of a thief trying your front door to see if it’s unlocked. Cyber Essentials is designed to prevent these attacks.
There are two levels of certification:
Cyber Essentials
The self-assessment option gives you protection against a wide variety of the most common cyber attacks. This is important because vulnerability to basic attacks can mark you out as target for more in-depth unwanted attention from cyber criminals and others.
We can provide the certification via our partners at CyberSmart and can ensure that your systems and the answers given to the lengthy questionnaire are at the levels required to gain the certification. For a fixed fee we can provide guaranteed accreditation with little or no input required from yourselves.
Certification gives you peace of mind that your defences will protect against the vast majority of common cyber attacks simply because these attacks are looking for targets which do not have the Cyber Essentials technical controls in place. Cyber Essentials shows you how to address those basics and prevent the most common attacks.
Cyber Essentials Plus
Cyber Essentials Plus has the Cyber Essentials trademark simplicity of approach, and the protections you need to put in place are the same.
The difference is that for Cyber Essentials Plus a hands-on technical verification is carried out on a random sample of computers within the organisation.
