What backup solution should I use?
There are many options to choose from when looking at backing up your data. The 4 main questions you need to make a decision on which backup to use are generally:
- What is the source of the data that needs backing up e.g. an on-premise server or cloud stored documents/emails
- Are there any limiting factors that could affect the backup e.g. Slow internet speed at the office that the server is located.
- How long do you need to keep your backups for. Some firms need to keep emails and documents for many years for compliance reasons.
- How quickly do you need to get your data back in the case of a complete loss. Cloud based backups are good but you might want the additional capability of taking a local backup onto a hard drive to enable data recovery in a few hours rather than days.
